Bachelorettes and Gladiators

My friend asked me why I watch "The Bachelorette" and  "The Bachelor."

I think it is the same reason ancient Romans watched the Gladiators. It starts off with a group of people, and you watch them fight, and compete in a huge arena for survival. The goal is to be the last one standing.

I don't think people who watched the Gladiators were anxious to be in the arena. It was just so awful, horrific, and spectacular, they couldn't look away.
Kaitlyn, and a rose. This franchise keeps the rose industry hopping.

So, this season has been especially awful. It started with two bachelorettes: Sweety Britt, and Hilarious Kaitlyn.  The 25 men voted for which bachelorette they wanted to date by putting a rose into a box with their name on it. It was such a weird way to start the season, increasing the power plays and competitive nature on every single level.

Britt went home, but she had a guy follow her, so it is going to be OK for her. Don't worry. Her lipstick never smeared, and she is a pretty crier. Britt will be fine.

I applaud the men for choosing Kaitlyn. She is for sure the more entertaining woman to watch. She has a great sense of humor, and she has made just terrible decisions all throughout the season. Her self-destructive behavior has created drama on every level. She slept with a guy on the first date, AND she admitted it. Bachelors have before bedded many women before the approved sexing on the "fantasy date," but they never ever admitted it. They never talked about it. She did both.

This season we are down to the final two bachelors. Charming Nick, and KenBarbie-abs Shawn.
Charming Nick
Nick was on a previous season, and actually made it to the final two before. He was not the chosen one. He came back for another try. We met his family this week, and I actually felt really bad for them. I get to watch arena from a distance, but they have to live with the after-carnage. Nick is great for the show because he likes to kiss and he has fabulous talking heads. I think he has read some books, or at least looks at a thesaurus, because his vocabulary is good.
KenBarbie-abs Shawn

Shawn is very easy on the eyes. He is a personal trainer, and is so buff he can't walk with his legs straight forward like most people do. The legs actually have to go out to the side to make room for all of the muscles bulging in his gluteus and thigh region. His defining characteristic is his jealousy and hatred for Nick. He really hates that guy.

I watch because I am entertained. I do end up having my favorite contestants. The editing on this show is amazing. The soundtrack is predictable. The lighting is dramatic. The destinations are interesting. In conclusion, I watch because The Bachelorette is the reason for the tear-drops on my guitar. Yes, on occasion I might  be known to even pull a Mesnick.
